in front of the Lompoc Veteran’s Building for a photo op-

portunity to show the community that you support the pro-

gram and you want the local families to enjoy a wonderful

Christmas holiday.

Local events such as a Chasing Santa, Swim meet,

Airplane&Car show, ALR Motorcycle toy ride, Softball

tournament and Billiard tournament are events that collect

toys.

The National Marine Corps Toys for

Tots Campaign kicks

off in November.

ome out and enjoy a great family experience at Riv-

er Park. This event is geared for all ages and ability

levels for people to experience a great 3-mile race.

A T-Shirt can be purchased the day of the event and

prizes will be awarded for 1st & 2nd place in each category.

Ages: 5 – 7 years - 1 mile; 8 & up - 3 miles

Sunday, November 24th

Check – In: 8:00 AM - 8:45 AM

Time: 9:00 AM - Start Time

Location: River Park, Fitness Trail

Fees: $20.00 Early Bird Registration through November

22nd. $25.00 On-site registration

You are welcome to come and see how these events work.

News coverage before the events is a great way to let

the community know where they can donate a toy for the

program.

Toy collection boxes are throughout the community as well.

Volunteers and event coordinators are a big part of this

program, they help with collecting toys and distributing

them to the families.

I hope you will join us and spread the word to get in-

volved and inform the families to register on November 6

and 7 in Lompoc.

Flyers have been going out to schools in the Santa Bar-

bara county since October and the flyers will be handed out

at the stand down.

Every child deserves a toy for Christmas.

elanie Thatcher will be recognized at the Salute to Teachers

Awards night hosted by Santa Barbara County Education Of-

fice on November 2, 2019. Melanie is a fifth grade teacher at

iguelito Elementary School and has been teaching for two years.

Miguelito Elementary School Principal, Becky Sausker said, “With

her intelligence, insight, and creativity she is poised to set the educa-

tion world on fire while leading students to new heights of academic

achievement.

” Superintendent Trevor McDonald added, “Melanie brings with her

an exuberance and positivity that has been evident from the get go. She

is an asset for LUSD and we are proud to have her recognized.”
