anta Barbara Gives! is a project- based, year-end, holiday fundraising effort which partners
with the Santa Barbara Independent and the Fund for Santa Barbara. This year, the Lompoc
Family YMCA is featured as one of the local nonprofits focused to solve the root causes of
The Lompoc Y is passionate
about youth development and
social responsibility. Donations
through SB Gives will go directly to support the Horizon
Youth Education Program hosted at the Lompoc Y.
This gang prevention program partners at-risk youth
with mentors from Allan Hancock College. Mentors of-
fer personalized instruction in STEM (Science Technol-
ogy Engineering and Math) subjects to encourage young
students to achieve their potential, and lead them on a path
towards college and beyond.
“We are working with the Santa Maria YMCA, which
has led an extremely successful similar program, and we
hope to substantially increase college matriculation rates
in northern Santa Barbara County,” explains Stephanie Saucedo Branch Manager of the Lompoc Y.
SB Gives! wants to encourage donors to dig a little deeper, find a mission that inspires them, and give a little more than
they might otherwise.
