GAP Bookkeeping, Payroll & Taxes
I graduated in from Cal State University, Sacramento
in 1997 with a degree in Business Administration &Ac-
countancy. I always knew I wanted to use my educa-
tion, talents and skills in the service of helping people in
need. After graduation, I worked as a senior accountant
in the non-profit sector in Sacramento starting with the
California Optometric Association where I was employed for six years. After leaving COA, I
put more time into my company GAP Bookkeeping and Taxes and foster care.
I had taken in a foster child with special needs. From there, I went to work for the Sac-
ramento Metro Chamber of Commerce pretty much doing the same functions and using the
same accounting software as I did with the COA. I also added payroll and cash flow analysis
to my duties. In January 2007, I moved to Hawaii and started working for Richard Scott, a
real estate developer who owned several rental properties, a budget hotel and later a restau-
rant. I worked for Rick as a full-charge bookkeeper running the office and managing all the
While I lived in Kauai, I started my own non-profit called The African Heritage Cultural
Center of Kauai. We organized and participated in several community based activities with
women, children, theater, music, and education. Upon returning to Lompoc to help care for
my aging mother and father, I took a part-time job with Mr. Joseph Perry and Tax on Wheels.
I worked with Mr. Perry on payroll and individual tax returns for a brief time before going to
work for Walpole & Co, LLP, a CPA firm based in Goleta California. I worked for Walpole
as a full charge bookkeeper and payroll specialist.
While there, I took on the payroll services for most of the clients that had caregivers. The
state refers to them as household employees. I learned and implemented the new labor laws
and tax implications for this class of worker and became the go to staff person for these
clients. I was employed at Walpole for the last 5 years ending in 2019 and am now working
from home. I use Quickbooks Online and Desktop, and other Intuit Software in my practice
and am ready to help you be successful in your home and business accounting needs. Call me
today, let’s get your year started off right!
