Lompoc Valley Master Chorale Presents...

Christmas is Coming!

A

wonderful array of

music is sure to please

even the most refined

taste, with full orchestra in

tune under the brilliant di-

rection of San Luis Obispo’s Dr. Brian Asher Alhadeff. The

45-piece orchestra is composed of many of the Central Coast’s

finest musicians, always in an effort to create an evening to

remember. Attendees will be enjoying the orchestra’s rendi-

tion of “Sleigh Ride,” “A Charlie Brown Christmas,” “I’ll Be

Home For Christmas,” “It’s The Most Wonderful Time of the

Year,” along with “March of the Toys” and Leroy Anderson’s

“A Christmas Festival.” Dr. Alhadeff has also chosen several

selections from “The Nutcracker” to round out the evening’s

performance.

bengochea2013A

The talented Mr. Christopher Bengochea is the scheduled

soloist for the evening’s

festivities who will be

performing three of his

favorite pieces, two be-

ing “O Holy Night” and

“White Christmas.”

Bengochea began his

musical career as a pia-

nist; however, later he

moved into the study of

opera during his time at

Montana State Univer-

sity, and the University

of Montana. After becom-

ing an award winner at

the Northwest Regional

Metropolitan Opera Na-

tional Council auditions, in addition to winning third prize

at the Internationale Societa Concetistica vocal competition

(Santa Margherita-Ligure, Italy), he decided to pursue singing

entirely. He studied and worked with renowned tenor Gianni

Raimondi who described Bengochea as having a voice both

brilliant and romantic.

Lompoc Pops Orchestra’s Annual Christmas Concert

by Connie Barlow

The Lompoc Pops Orchestra will be performing its annual Christmas concert on Sunday evening on

December 1, 2019 at 7:00 p.m

From the San Jose Mercury News, Bengochea was praised

as “having power, sure intonation and fine diction that comes

in a package tied with a ribbon of natural sound tenor.” In an-

other review, the Chicago Tribune described his performance

as “flawless.”

Conductor Alhadeff continues to bring extremely talented

vocal and instrumental professionals to Lompoc and because

of it, THE POPS has once again been selected as the “Best

Musical Event” in town, based on a city-wide reader poll by

the Lompoc Record newspaper. Following the Christmas per-

formance there will be two remaining season concerts, those

being: “The Wild West Hits The Pops” on March 30, 2020 and

“Patron Favorites” on June 22, 2020.

The venue for all performances is Lompoc’s First United

Methodist Church located at 925 North F. Street in downtown

Lompoc. Tickets are $20.00 for adults and $5 for full-time stu-

dents of all ages with student I.D. shown at the door. Children

12 & under are admitted free. Please call 805-735-6463 for

tickets, and there is a “Will Call Table” for patron convenience.
